Kaduneljapäeva õhtu oli mul senise elu lahedaim: vudisime hobudega heinad-kaerad talli – pärast daamide öörahule minekut lappisin ja lappasin lumevalgel 2,5 km karjuselinte ja puhastasin parkla – sahk käis – ning kuna õhtul oli vool, oli idüll.
Tänu elektri kadumisele kell 1 öösel nikerdasin end allapanu saepuru abiga meeterhaaval mööda lausjääd maanteele. Hommikused keele-individuaalid andsin Kehtnas, täna saame korralikud lamellid, igaks juhuks sillaregulli – kus annan kell 15 , 18 ja 20 zoomitunnid, selgub… ee… voolavalt 😀

Sigma Males, Super Empaths, & The Global Identity Crisis

Sigma males — the mysterious, lone wolf, and rare type of male that was wedged into the hierarchy of “alpha” and “beta” men, took the world by storm earlier this year. Yes, the sigma males allegedly only make up 0.02% of the population, according to the multiple pseudo-science-based videos that went viral, and yet… it seems like half of the men that I speak with online identifies as a sigma male. Now, how can such a rare type of man be so prevalent? Funny how that works.
This issue doesn’t begin or stop with Sigma males. In fact, I’m arguing that our society as a whole, men and women, Alphas and Sigmas, are undergoing a global identity crisis.

Taking a quick tour through various Discord servers or Youtube comments will show you there are all sorts of new-age labels that are popping up that people subscribe to.
Super Empath is another interesting one. Being an empath isn’t good enough anymore, you have to be a super empath. I wonder how long until Marvel capitalizes on this magnificent superhero?
Now, don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with identifying as a super empath, plant empath, or any other kind of empath that apparently exists. Empathy is good. Being an empath is good. However, what concerns me is that the Super Empath is described as a narcissist’s worse nightmare and capable of reaching “supernova” powers (seriously, Marvel.) yet there is no empirical, psychological research to back up any of this.

These lists of Super Empath or Sigma Males traits are generic and can be applicable to anyone, thanks to the Barnum effect. This is the same cognitive effect responsible for making horoscopes relatable to anyone regardless of their zodiac sign. Overall, subscribing to these labels, like horoscopes, is harmless fun.

But I feel sigma males and super empaths are beginning to develop a superiority complex. Self-proclaimed sigma males believe they’re more unique than the rest of their male counterparts and super empaths are beginning to think they wield an out-of-world like superpower compared to regular, boring ol’ empaths.
Just be empathetic, bro.
You don’t need to fit into a list of made-up traits to be an empath. You don’t need to be a sigma male living in the mountains to feel confident with your place in society.
The global identity crisis is seen everywhere. People wear their quadrant on the political compass like a badge of honor, teenagers are self-diagnosing themselves with personality disorders based on WebMD’s symptoms, and one’s MBTI personality type often determines someone’s romantic interest before they know them. (“Oh, as an INFJ, I would never date an ESTP.”)
We need to stop letting these unreliable online personality tests and labels that are based on pseudo-science shape our identity. Take a step back from the computer and try to remember who you were before a video told you what your identity is.
