Ma tahan elada maailmas, kus valitseb rahu. Maailmas, mis ei hävita iseennast, kus keegi ei valluta ega koloniseeri suveräänseid riike. Meil lasub kohustus muuta ÜRO organisatsiooniks, mis suudab päriselt kaitsta rahvusvahelist rahu ja julgeolekut. Kutsusin maailma liidreid ÜRO Peaassambleel Eesti riigikõnet pidades üles Julgeolekunõukogu tööd parandama. Riikide ühine sõnaõigus rahu ja julgeoleku säilitamisel kaalub rohkem kui Julgeolekunõukogu ühe liikme veto. Eriti olukorras, kus Julgeolekunõukogu on omadega ummikus. Peaassamblee peab saama otsustusõiguse kui Julgeolekunõukogu ei saa hakkama konfliktile lahenduse pakkumisega. ÜRO Julgeolekunõukogu peab täitma oma kohustusi ja mandaati ning tegutsema läbipaistvamalt. Üks on kindel – vetoõiguse ulatust ja kasutamist tuleb piirata. Praegu on veoõiguse kasutajatel Julgeolekunõukogus suur võim, sealhulgas võim panna lahenduste leidmine pausile, sest mõnikord on see teravalt vastuolus nõukogu liikmete endi huvidega. Julgeolekunõukogu patiseisu saab otseselt mõõta kaotatud ja sandistatud inimeludes. See on vale ja vastuvõetamatu.
Rääkisin Venemaa agressioonist Ukraina vastu. Igasugune jutt dialoogist ja sellest, kui tähtis on rahukõneluste pidamine Ukraina ja Venemaa vahel, toetab praegu kahjuks ainult Venemaa huve. Eriti kui need niinimetatud rahuettepanekud ei teadvusta, kes on selles olukorras agressor ja kes ohver. Me ei kutsu Venemaad kohvitama. Venemaa peab lõpetama agressiooni ning viima oma väed ja sõjatehnika Ukraina territooriumilt välja. Ukraina territoriaalne terviklikkus ja suveräänsus tuleb taastada.
Eesti ajalooline kogemus ajast, mil olime inimõigustest ilma jäetud, innustab meid seisma nende eest, kes täna oma õiguste eest võitlevad. See on põhjuseks, mis Eesti kandideerib ÜRO Inimõiguste Nõukogu liikmeks aastateks 2026-2028.

On September 25th, 2024 we have a Grand Trine in Earth signs: Mercury in Virgo is now trine Uranus in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn.
